For our Story Board this month I cut out some felt trees and pulled out some pom pom balls. I read A City Christmas Tree and then Jake decorated the tress.
He is NOT feeling well so we had to have a really low key day, but his sense of humor is never far. He decided that it would be fun to decorate his little brother! :)
Luckily little brother loves Jake and will let him do just about anything!
After he decorated the trees we cleared the trees and read the 5 Little Tree Poem:
Five Little Christmas Trees
Five little Christmas trees
Stood all alone.
Their hearts were sad
For they hadn't found a home.
Chop! went the ax.
Down came the tree.
And off it went with a happy family.
Four little Christmas trees
Stood all alone.
Their hearts were sad
For they hadn't found a home.
Chop! went the ax.
Down came the tree.
And off it went with a happy family.
Three little Christmas trees
Stood all alone.
Their hearts were sad
For they hadn't found a home.
Chop! went the ax.
Down came the tree.
And off it went with a happy family.
Two little Christmas trees
Stood all alone.
Their hearts were sad
For they hadn't found a home.
Chop! went the ax.
Down came the tree.
And off it went with a happy family.
One little Christmas tree
Stood all alone.
It's heart was sad
For it hadn't found a home.
Chop! went the ax.
Down came the tree.
And off it went with a happy family.
*Have a child come and 'chop' down one of the
trees each time and 'take it home'.
He had fun chopping down the trees and wanted to repeat the poem a few times. These were the perfect activities for this low energy day! He was very tired, not being able to sleep well, and then the body aches. He just wanted to watch TV all day. I try very hard to limit TV to a half hour or less a day but on days like this it is very hard! He does not usually ask to watch TV but yesterday and today he begged. By having some low energy activities ready our day was not sucked up by the boob tube! This activity was just enough to pop him out of his bad mood. He then played in his sensory box, with play doh and we read a ton of stories. It was a successful "Play" day even with a bad virus!
So cute! I have some green felt and pom poms. I think my kids would enjoy this. Thanks for sharing. I am a new FB fan visiting from ABC and 123 Learning. I have pinned this post. Vicky from Mess For Less
