This month's Construction Theme inspired me to create a Story Board for the story of the Three Little Pigs.
I think the pictures are pretty self explanatory. I just used the self made pieces to tell the story. Then I gave Jacob the opportunity to do the same. He wanted me to do it again and "helped" me tell the story this time. He was familiar with the story and really enjoys "being" the big bad wolf.
While telling the story I make sure to emphasis that the first two pigs hurry to build their house and their houses were not strong and were easy to blow down. I then explain that the brick house is not blown down because it is a strong house. We talk about how it takes hard work to get the best results.
Story boards are a great tool to teach elements of a story, story telling and beginning/middle/end just to name a few. They are great resources for toddlers and do not have to be a fortune. Just make the pieces yourself!
